Access and Equity
Accessibility
Huntington Theatre provides ASL-interpreted, audio-described, open-captioned performances, and more.
Huntington Community Membership Initiative (HCMI)
The Huntington Community Membership Initiative is a program designed to reduce the cost barrier of attending live theatre for those with limited income and to diversify the audiences so they look more like the city of Boston.
Anti-Racism
The ASAP includes concrete policies and procedures to be implemented (and/or reinforced) across the entire organization. Each policy will work on its own and as part of a holistic institutional effort to catalyze and sustain The Huntington’s stated commitment to systemic change.
Content Advisories
Content advisories are written notices for our shows to let interested patrons know that a show may contain sensitive content ahead of time. These notices flag specific themes that may be upsetting so our patrons can adequately prepare themselves to engage with or, if necessary, disengage from the material.
Land Acknowledgement
The Huntington acknowledges that our physical spaces stand on the occupied homeland of the Massachusett people. We’d like to begin by acknowledging the Massachusett Tribe from whom the Colony, Province and Commonwealth of Massachusetts have taken their name. We’d like to pay respect to the ancestral bloodline of the Massachusett Tribe and their descendants who still inhabit the land to this day. We honor and respect the many native peoples who are connected to this land, past, present and future, including the Nipmuc and Wampanoag peoples.
